I have a 1935 Phaeton. What is the correct carburetor the Stromberg 97 or 48?

The Stromberg 48 is the correct carburetor for you '35....

While the Stromberg 48 is show correct for '35, I prefer to run a 97 on my '35 drivers for improved gas mileage.

Yes, there is a 4-point deduction for wrong carburetor.
