I am having trouble trying to figure out how to change my points, rotor and set timing with the 59A's "diving bell"type distributor. Any documentation or procedures would be super helpful

Changing the points requires removal of the distributor from the vehicle. Disassembly is not difficult, and correctly installed, the initial timing is set by the offset of the distributor drive and on the camshaft that meshes with the corresponding offset. While the timing can be set by careful use of "feeler" gauges, the best advice is to have the distributor set up by machine. If you want or need specific instructions, visit the C&G online catalog at www.cgfordparts.com.

I'd send the distribuor unit to Skip Haney in Ft.Myers, Fl. He'll do the work and set it up on a "Sun Machine "to factory specs, at a nominal cost, and guarantees his work!

After i cleaned up the dist ,I installed new points and condenser. Then i put a piece cardboard in one set of points and used a drill to run the dist. Checking the dwell with a dwell meter 30 degrees and then i did the other set the same way. 36 degrees total dwell is what you want.
