  i have a nos 37 temp gauge that reads about 100 when cold . If you apply heat it goes up but returns to 100 How can i purge it ?

  Put it in your refrigerator to see if it will go below the 100 mark....

  Better yet, your freezer as there may a bubble in the line that the fluid has to work past.

  I have several '34 dual temp gauges that did the same thing.
The advice I received was to install it and drive the car. Sooner or later the bubble (s) will clear themselves.
Sure enough, the bubbles eventually came to the top and the gauges now read properly.
Be careful, these gauges are delicate.
