CCG can be made from helmet side cap gasket,Just trim a sliver off about half the circumference like a 1/16"off about 1/2 way around the edge of one.. TAPERED at beginning and end of cut. Been doing it for years, fit and work perfectly and you can make 2 of them from a pair. ken ct. Someone relay this to the ford barn as a tip. ken Isidor ct.

Ken, I saw this same information in one of your old Fordbarn posts. You probably read the recent FB post where several comments were made (including one by a well known rebuilder) about a gasket between a crab style cap and distributor casting not being necessary. I totally disagree with those who posted that a gasket is not necessary. It seems to me I have read articles about Ford redesigning the crab distributor to use a two piece "rabbit ear" cap design ('46-'48) to overcome the moisture problems occuring with the crab style cap.
Any distributor used on the front of the engines on my cars will definitely have some type of gasket, or other means of sealing to prevent mositure related problems.

John, rabbit eared caps are even worst ,there are 2 caps that need gaskets.I provide rubber nipples to go on the wire connections to the cap all 9 of them. (crab cap). ken ct.
