Has anyone installed a Fitech EFI system or similar to an 8BA flathead

A bit out of our comfort zone here. You might have better luck on the HAMB.

Putting an EFI on a flathead would probably be a lot of money spent on a potential problem. If you drive your car a lot and go on tours it could be a problem in the event of a breakdown. In other words where do you get parts to fix it on the road? The old tried and true 97 or 94 carb can be easily fixed on the road just by carrying a few spare parts in the tool compartment. Keep it simple and you'll be glad you did. JMHO

Paul, a little more info is needed. What are the modifications you have done to your flathead? I think Fitech FI units horse power rating starts around 400 HP. You will also need a four barrel manifold, HP pump, hoses and might need to change your fuel tank. The systems that I have seen are on high end street/race flatheads with many modifications, bored, stroked, cam, pistons, head work, etc. to them. What are you building?

I did try using their 4 bbl version. Not enough HP and it didn't work.
They now have a 2bbl version but I am a little gun shy. You have to install
an in-tank fuel pump and return line or at least a return line. Fuel pressure
is 58psi IIRC.

Thanks for all your comments and I'll stick with keeping it simple.
