Topic: 53 fuel pump sediment bowel

Does anybody have any suggestions re how to access the glass sediment bowel on my 53 Sunliner? It is close to the firewall at the rear of the intake manifold behind the oil filter, which happens to have an add-on pressure guage ( oil filter) making it almost impossible to get two hands on it. Removing the oil bath air filter looks like it may help a little, but it will still be awkward to get a grip on it. Any suggestions before I start removing things? Thanks!

Me, I'd remove the oil filter canister....Or, if you can access and remove the two bolts that secure the fuel pump stand pipe and remove the entire assembly....

Remove the air cleaner and reach over the front of the car. The thumb wheel should be just tight enough to seal at the gasket. I hope that you have a new gasket as you will most likely have to replace it after removing the sediment bowl.

Yes it is awkward to get to.

Thanks, Tom! That was awkward but worked. Hopefully this doesn't need replacement too often
