Topic: How to connect Starter Cable to a 1935 Car

Does the cable coming from the battery connect to the left terminal of the started switch or right terminal as view from the drivers seat. The reason I’m asking is, my clutch pedal rubs against the cable when I push down on the pedal. The cable I’m using is a reproduction cable but it seems to be correct. It has a right angle tab on it that connects to the switch.

I am using the RH Passinger side, the terminal on your cable sounds like the correct one. don`t forget about the support bracket. Photo is a NOS cable with an second bracket to show how the bracket is installed on the cable.

If your solenoid has only one small terminal that connects to the starter button, there is an internal connection to the battery side cable terminal. If you are in doubt as to which is which, the small terminal will show a connection to the battery side when checked with an ohmmeter. If, after installing the battery and starter cables, the solenoid doesn't work, reverse the battery and starter cables at the solenoid. If you have a "universal" type replacement solenoid with two small terminals, one must have a jumper to then battery side to operate, as the solenoid "finds" ground thru the button.
