a quick starter ques about these flathead starters, I am sure I bought the right starter for my car, but when I installed it ,it just spun and the drive didn't connect to the flywheel, so I pulled it and bench started it and the drive didn't move, I tried wd40 to loosen it up but didn't help, my ques is should the drive move when started on the bench,I would think so

The older style with the exposed spring will jump forward when juiced. Not sure on this new type with the diff. Bendix on it ??? ken ct. Which type did you purchase ??
