Had the clock in my stock 46 rebuilt several years ago. Keeps perfect time. However, my test light shows an immediate drain
if I insert it's fuse and hook it up. After a lot of searching I've reached the point where I suspect the drain is within the clock itself.
Is that possible, and is it feasible to take it apart looking for something obvious without butchering it up.

It sounds like you have it narrowed down to the clock. Pull it out and look for a bad place on the wire or send it to someone who repairs car clocks.
