Chilton had various Editions going back into the early 1930's and are wonderful References on all make cars. They had Books with various names and on different subjects: such as "Service"; "Tuneup & Interchangeable Parts"; "Flat Rate & Tuneup", etc.

Motor's Handbook was another good reference used by many garage mechanics. They too dated back into the 1930's.
Hope this helps.
