Here's my question I just acquired a 53 Customline with the 239 V8 I want to freshen up all the oils before I start driving it. I looked up oil filter cartridges to find out there are two choices the cartridge by-pass oil filter and the cartridge oil filter how do I determine which one I need.

FRAM C4 or WIX 51006 are the correct oil filters for the stock 1953 Ford 239 V8.... These two filters a physically identical with respect to their dimensions.... This message was edited by MG on 5-3-18 @ 5:27 PM
