Topic: 1939 standard hood support rod

I have been told that the early model 1939 standard had just a support rod located on the drivers side that mounts on the hood with a spring and secures when open into the firewall. This appears to be what my car has as there is a mounting hole in the hood and a hole in firewall. I guess this was used instead of spring hinges. Any knowledge would be appreciated as where I might locate as the usual after mkt guys don't list thanks

I have a very early original ( October 1938 ) 1939 standard coupe assembled in the USA..
It has the spring type hood support. PN 91A 16783-A.
Pretty much the same as the LH spring support for a 39 deluxe except it has a crank in the arm.
Those early type 37/38 supports ended in 1938 ( thank goodness )

Yep, just like Chris has advised, there was one design for the '39 standards. And, just so you don't get "taken", the reproduction supports that claim to be for '39 standard models are NOT.
