Topic: 36 ford standard horn

I have my horn out and on the bench with a battery connected and all the sound I can get is a buzzing sound. I removed the cover and tried moving the adjusting screw which was loose with no change.I removed the,I guess you would call the diaphragm? to expose the points which seem to be completely closed.I saw an earlier forum where TomO mentions armature spacing but I'm not sure what that is nor do I know what the point gap should be.Is there a proper sequence to use in adjusting the horn?Nothing seams to be missing, but it does appear from the screws that someone has tried to adjust it before.
ThankYou
Frank

The armature is the part of the horn motor that moves the diaphragm. The diaphragm is the thin piece of metal that makes the sound.

You will need heavy wires to give the horn enough current to make sound. Use jumper cables or 10 ga wire.

The armature needs to move at least 0.40" in order to make sound. This us the armature gap.

The points should open as soon as the armature starts to move. They should be fully closed when the armature is at rest.
