I have a 36 Ford that someone before me put 40 Hyd Brakes on (wish they would have left them original). I went through the brake shoes and drums, but I would like to put on a duel line master cyl. If any of you have done this before, what master cyl. did you use and did it work out. I am only thinking of the safety factor. Thanks, Jerry

Well you would need one with the same bore for the brakes to work right. I would see if you can find someone who has an old picture catalog. Then you would have to make a n adapter yo bolt it up. Look at trucks also.

Bob Drake sells an adapter kit p/n EC-415 ($135.00), and a dual master cylinder (early model Mustang) p/n C9AZ-2140-D ($105.00), that I bought for my '46 Ford Coupe. I haven't installed the kit yet, as the weather is a little cool up North. I don't know if the kit would fit the '36 or not, or if the bore size would be compatible for your application. Also check Speedway Motors, I think they may have a kit for the older Fords.

Thanks for the information. I am aware of Drakes parts, however, I know someone that has installed these items on their car, but they are not happy. Just thought someone out there had a better idea and source. Speedway Motors is an excellent supply source, but not sure which master cyl. is the correct one.

Get in touch with Richard Lacy at the Early V8 Garage and discuss your problem with him. He has designed the proper system to do this conversion. One problem with this conversion is your reliance on one of the two brake systems will work if you loose the other one. The remaining one may not work properly with the peddle all the way to the floor because the peddle linkage geometry is incorrect. Jerry, I have used a company called, Master Power Brakes, 1-888-251-2353 in the past. All they do is brake systems. Be aware however, that a master cylinder is only one part of a brake system. Other parts in order for it to work properly are the combination valve, metering valve,residual check valves and even pedal ratio. There are many "horror stories" of improperly designed brake systems.
