Topic: 1937 SERIAL NUMBER HELP

v8teditor    -- 03-18-2018 @ 12:22 PM
I have a friend looking at what he believes to be a 1937 Ford Tudor Sedan. The owner lost the title years ago, and the car has not been registered or driven for 50 years. After some wire brushing, he found and photographed the serial number on the driver's side frame rail near the steering box.(*54(?) – 204815*). The number does not seem to fit any serial number listing he’s seen for 1937 Fords. There is a number on the firewall but it is not the same.(C 24O52)

Can anyone help him figure this out?

  Jerry,

That serial number would be valid for a 1937 V8-60 hp.

Ken is correct. The 54 prefix designates the 60 HP cars. That prefix was carried right through 1940.
