Where can I obtain 8 hydraulic valve lifters for one side of my 1951 Lincoln 337c.i.d?

You might want to try The Lincoln-Mercury Old Parts Store. Herb Scheffer - president, lincoln@lincolnoldparts.com, www.lincolnoldparts.com. 2040-A Gentry St., Clearwater, FL 33765. For orders phone 888-500-9717, Tech. 727-445-7551, FAX: 727-445-7561.

EGGE has your valve lifters listed in their online catalog. You can call them at 800-866-3443.

You may also check at your local NAPA. However, speak with a counter person that cares enough to look in a book. NAPA has a significant amount of old stock remaining in their warehouses.

Things like water pumps, starters, generators are common place and typically much cheaper than the repop suppliers.

I'm wondering why you only need 8?

My '51 Lincoln has a tapping sound which starts after the car warms up. It is coming from the left bank, we know. It is apart right now and my mechanic friend is checking each valve and testing each lifter. Compression test shows normal. We tried various oils and additives, but to no avail. Engine oil has been changed 2-3 times. I am looking for the lifters if we decide we will install all new ones on the left side.

Thank you!

John
