Chances are it used a flat, braided ground strap versus a sheathed/insulated cable. If it's an early 8N, it may be like the 9N/2Ns which used one of the nuts for the carriage-head bolt that holds the dash panel to the steering column (in other words they grounded the battery to the steering column/dash panel). To be really sure, go to sites that specialize in 9N-2N-8Ns such as www.ntractorclub.com/forums/nboard/index.html or www.yesterdaystractors.com/nboard/wwwboard1.html . You may also find drawings in Dennis Carpenter's 9N-8N catalog - go to www.dennis-carpenter.com and go to the online catalog. Alan H.
