Topic: 1946 Banjo spider gear locking

Redroc1    -- 01-13-2018 @ 10:01 AM
Back in the day Wedge Engineering offered a kit that would lock the spider gears in a Banjo differential. It is no longer offered by Speedway. Any leads on this kit, any other kit or individual parts that will achieve this endeavor ? New or used. Welding them together or quick change conversion kits are not viable options at this time. Thanks

Unless you are building a dragster, locking the spider gears is not a good idea. Driving on the street with a locked rear end will wear the tires out very quickly.

If you are building a dragster, you will have better luck in finding information on locking the rear end on the HAMB.

When I was building circle track cars years ago, we would weld the spider gears to lock the rear end. This is not to be done on cars for the street, of course.
