I removed my tranny from my 1936 ford tudor sedan, because it had a bad throw-out bearing, so I decided to open the top and check the gears I need to replace the main drive shaft , but I am having trouble removing the intermediate gear from the shaft. the repair manual shows that you have to depress the plunger on the hole on the intermediate gear and remove the key, but tried with no success. Does anyone have another way to do this ?

Thanks Rudy

If you press to hard it may lock, press to lightly and it will also lock in place. Suggest you use a small diameter rod to depress, much smaller than the hole. Once the gear moves remove the depressing pin. There is no other way to disasssemble

40 Coupe mentions depressing the plunger. I hope I am not stating the obvious but you then also have to push the key out from the back. Use a small diameter rod ( a safety pin works) and move the key forward to remove, then you can turn the front washer to line up with the slots and remove second gear.
