Topic: 48 Convertible windshield Molding

Does anyone know if I can get, original, used or repro, the bright metal rims for the interior windshield moldings on my 48 convertible?? The attaching rubber, etc on mine are torn, shredded, etc.

Any other suggestions for ways to save my or;i;ginals?

Bill, can you attach a photo? I don't understand your question.

Bill, i have a 48 also, I glued some vinyl strips on it. I think it is the same as SS fender welding that is available from some vendors. Happy New Year

Thanks for the tip, Flathead48, I'm ordering an 8' strip of that stuff and will see if I can make it work.

I used the "chrome" fender welting in my '47 convertible. It has a bit larger bead than the original on my car, but looks good. I bought it a long time ago from Dennis Carpenter as 48-16070-SS "Fender Welt- Stainless Steel". That was the only place that sold it. Their number is 1-800-476-9653.

I repaired mine by using a knife to cut the old material out and kept using the knife to cut along the seam to first get rid of the old material and then by continuing to slide the knife through the seam ,it opened up, now use a new material wrapped over an electrical wire silicone or grease the material and slide it through the slot . the knife i used is one with the break off sections. take a flat section of board and tap the tube slot together if necessary John.
