Can any of you engine guys tell me what it means when you check your oil and dip stick is covered with a white foamy gunk. Its not in my flathead but my other engine 302 ford,is my carb running rich??.Thks Johna

That foam usually means that coolant is leaking into the oil. If the coolant is leaking you will see the coolant level drop in the rad. It can also mean that there is a lot condensation in your engine particularly if the engine is repeatably started and not allowed to run until the oil is fully hot. Either way it looks like an oil change is in your future.

With only 500 miles on your oil I would check the rad level, to make sure it it is not leaking, and take the truck for a good drive. When the oil gets up to it's, 250 degrees or so, operating temp it will evaporate the moisture and the foam should disappear. If it doesn't then you may have a leak.
