Hello, I am starting to work on a really rough 37 Sedan Delivery. The rear brake cables incorporate a strange component I have never seen before (see attached picture). Those are aftermarket cable tighteners used to allow adjustment of one of the cables without having to use the clevises on the brake cross shaft, as required to actually adjust the system. As cable brakes were only a two year use (37-38), I doubt that the are around today.

Gregg, They are cable shorteners, to be used when the clevises have been adjusted as tight as they go. Even with NOS cables, sometimes they are so long that the clevises have almost no adjustment left in them, hence the shorteners. To install them, loosen the clevises to the fully extended position, install the shorter, then adjust the clevises up snug. Alan
