Topic: Reverse Flow PCV?

Ok..., I'm obsessed with getting a PCV system set up on my newly rebuilt '37 V8-85!!
Is there any reason I could'nt create an effective PCV system reversing the flow of my crank case ventilation by way of a Carburetor Riser w/vacuum port, a correctly sized PCV valve in the oil filler tube, and some kind of filter down at the oil pan vent??
Sometime down the road when I have the intake manifold off I plan to plug the internal draft tube and drill and tap the intake manifold to relocate the PCV valve. _____But until then.., is there any reason this (see pic) would'nt work OKish?___

Yes it should but make sure the inlet on the oil pan has a good filter otherwise you will suck road dust into the engine. There are threaded PCV valves that would make the install on the manifold easier.

Shane, I'd think that would work fine for good ventilation of the crankcase, and help the air quality as well. There are, however two additional factors t you must consider:
Power valve opening value.
Main Jet size.
To obtain the optimum numbers for your conversion, you'll need to start with the difference in vacuum with/without the PCV in service.

Yes..., I was wondering if there were ways to pre-deturmine these factors with a vacuum gauge or??.., or wheather the trial & error method was pretty much the only way to get it close.

The only info. I have found online for sizing and testing a PCV valve only tests function at idle.., not at cruising.., or transition from idle to cruising?

What I found onlind is as follows:

Find a PCV valve application from a late 60's - early 70's engine with the same, or close as possible cubic inch displacement. Apply PCV valve to your system. Once up to operating temp. make idle & idle mixture adjustments as needed. To test function: While at idle, pinch the PCV line closed. If properly sized, the idle should decrease 50 to 70 rpm.
