  Dear All

I have a early Ford Chassis that has been cut down and would like to know what age and what it came off. Can anyone help me please?

Thanks

Marc

I am sure that this was originally as a British Ford V8 Pilot (1947-51). The outer brackets on the rear axle were for the built-in jacking system and the bracket near the centre was for the cable to operate the rear brakes. The Pilot had hydraulic front brakes and cable rears. It would appear that this was originally a Police car as the two brackets under the rear seat were for two 6 volt batteries. The Pilot was 6 volt with a battery under the bonnet (hood) but when used by the police this was moved to make space for radio equipment and twin 6 volt batteries fitted in the rear chassis to provide 12 volts. Please see photo of my Pilot.
