Topic: '53 Crestline Victoria question

Tudor53Vicky    -- 10-29-2017 @ 2:15 PM
Hello guys, my names Chris and I'm new to the site. I have a 1953 2 door hard top Victoria that I want to start on but I need to find out a little information on it before I start. The exterior colors of the car are Flamingo red an Sungate ivory. I would like to know what color interior it came with. The code on the vin plate is - 60B SL AD 21GRP462D. I found the codes for everything but the "AD" an the "21GRP462D". Can anyone give me ANY information on thes two sets of letters? Any help will be greatly appreciated!

  Chris,

The AD indicates your interior was Ivory and Flamingo vinyl. The 21G indicates your car was built July 21. I'm not sure how to decode the "RP462D".

A treasure trove of valuable information about your car can be found in the excellent 1952-1953 Ford Book, published by the Early Ford V-8 Club and available for sale on this site by clicking on Online Store on the left.

  HI Chris
I have a 52 CV and I got a lot of great info from the 52-53 Ford Book . Ray Beebe is the person that can help you. He is the 52-53 Ford advisor. You can find his website in the V8 Times. I tried to decode those numbers but got nowhere.

Chris, The RP462D would be some local markings for the production code. Some plants would mark special order cars, for employees, etc. various ways. The 462 is most likely the actual Production Code plus the special marks.
What do you have on the first Serial No. line? B 3 Assembly plant and 10XXXX?
Do you have the original door panels? Black, Ivory and Flamingo Red? I could send you pictures of my Victory in same color scheme. Mine was built 2 days after yours in Richmond(R), CA. Don

Chris, I will send pix via your PM (Private message) if you have it turned on or PM me with your email. My door and quarter panels are the original as installed on 23 July 1953. Don
