Topic: airtedx at 5 to 8 psi

Looking to add a back up Airtex on my 41.

Would the 5 to 8 psi unit be practical ?

That's too much pressure. The Airtex 8902 is a good choice with 4 lbs. max pressure. Assuming you are looking for 6 volt.

You should know by now 3 # is about max on a ford or strom carb. 2 1/2 # is more like it. WAY over that @ 5-8 #. ken ct

Ditto Kenct, they are an ok pump except you have to put a good spring in it or use a regulator. After a few months use, the Chinese spring will go from 8lbs to about 4 or 5 lbs without Regulator which still is too much pressure. D

4 lb is still over max pressure recommended. Buy a good regulator while your at it. To bring it down to around 2 lb to start with. ken ct.

I have a 12 volt system, stock engine, and don't know the model number of the Airtex on my '47 (bought it in 2012). It test's at 3 PSI (no regulator). My mechanical pump also test's at 3 psi.
