I am rewiring my 37 ford club coupe. I was wondering are there any gotchas I need to be aware of when I take the clip off the bottom of the column? Is there anything I need to be wary of? Are there any diagrams showing that connection?

If you need a wiring diagram for your '37, I have one. Just leave me a private message on this site. Most of the switches on the bottom of the steering column have been oil soaked. We use a wiring harness with the Bakelite contact body attached already. If your new wiring loom doesn't have it, I would order the 78-11653 assembly for C&G (1-800-26-0470). When removing the switch assembly carefully observe the orientation of the disk and the fork on the end of the rod. Taking pictures of any replacement job can be big help in putting it back together.

Check the orientation of the contact plate to make sure that you install the replacement in the same orientation. Take pictures before and after disassembly. Tom

Thank you. I just wanted to be sure there is nothing other than the bakerlite plate going in there (a ball bearing,....)
