Topic: '48 running boards

I am restoring a '48 Ford Sedan Coupe that I bought in a pile of parts. I need to know if the aluminum running boards fasten directly to the bottom of the body with no pads between, except on the front end, and then the rubber washers go on the bottom under the bolt heads??

Replacing the running boards is a big job because the bolts into the rocker box to attach the running boards almost always are rusted in place and is is necessary to cut openings so the inside end of the bolts can be reached. I place a layer of a product called "gutter patch" between the running boards and the body. This is an asphalt material with a foil cover that has an adhesive backing available at most home centers. It helps secure the running board to the body and reduces water infiltration while minimizing squeaks. It can also be used to seal the patches necessary to cover the holes made to remove the attaching bolts.

Thanks for ,the hint about gutter patch, I will check that out. Otherwise, it is all ready for installation.
