Topic: 41 dual exhaust system

Local shop seems to be unsure regarding the left hand routing of the pipes when changing to a dual exhaust system.

Help would be appreciated, along with a source of the components.

The main concern with the left side is making sure the pipe does not interfere with the clutch and brake pedal when they are depressed. You can route it through the frame, but you may need to flatten the top of the pipe slightly to give you the clearance.

The largest pipe that you can run through the frame on the left side is 1 3/4". The top of this pipe needs to be flattened slightly or the clutch pedal will hit it. If you use a 1 1/2" pipe, you should not need to flatten it.

It is best to have both sides the same diameter pipe and to have them fabricated by a muffler shop that has a mandrel pipe bender. Pre-bent pipes often have to be fitted and rebent to fit.
