Topic: Front Floor Pan

On a 48 how is the front floor pan attached. On my car there are sheet metal screws and good sized washers, both zinc or cad plated. Doesn't seem, to look right.

The front floorboard was originally attached with quarter inch bolts. Over the years, as the threads got rusty or worn, many were replaced with coarse threaded sheet metal screws. The 44-52 body parts catalog doesn't specify the finish of the fasteners.

Were washers used with the bolts?

Check out Roy Nacewicz PN DU-12A, Floorboard and center floorpan screw and washer kit, $10.95.

The 1946 Body Parts Catalog shows P/N 39094-S2 1/4"-20 x3/4" binding head machine screw qty 5 and 34905-s2 1/4" internal tooth lockwasher to secure the front floor board. The s2 is a raven finish. The 48 pan probably had the same fasteners.

Thanks Tom for the info. Where can I get a copy of the Body Parts Book? Sounds like it would be very useful.

They show up on epay every once in a while. Here is a link to one of 2 currently listed

The reprint is of the 44-52 book and it is not quite as useful for small parts and drawings of the 44-48 Ford.
