Gents - while waiting on the replacement cowl vent gasket/seal to arrive am going to ask a rudimentary question regarding weatherstrip adhesive. The 3M product I am using per recommendations on this Forum is basically a black contact cement that is tacky and ready to assemble almost by the time you have finished applying it to both surfaces - virtually zero time for adjustment and possibly damaging to the seal with any attempts at repositioning. Understandable for a door seal why this is necessary given the effects of gravity, but for the cowl vent gasket it would be preferred to use a product that gives one time for minor adjustments to ensure the seal is as flush to both the cowl and the cowl vent lid as possible. Any product recommendations that remain flow-able/lower viscosity to allow for minor adjustments of the cowl gasket, while ultimately creating effective, waterproof adhesion of the gasket to the cowl, are greatly appreciated. A possible example may be the 3M Auto Bedding and Glazing Compound 08509 I used when replacing the rear window seal/gasket - any experience using the same on the heavily wind-blown cowl vent gasket - ? Steve, I would strongly advise you stick (no pun) with the 3M Weatherstrip adhesive. Coat both the gasket and the mating (car) surface. Be certain you wipe the gasket clean with (I prefer) lacquer thinner. There is typically a mold release agent on the rubber that will hinder proper adhesion. Mike "Kube" Kubarth

CAUTION: Black 3 M adhesive, or the yellow, are supposed to be left to dry, like contact cement, until the initial gloss is gone, 10-15 minutes or so, and then put a little more on the part to be put on (gasket), and put it in place. 40cpe - thanks for posting the video. While I've used this product dozens of times, and of course thought I knew everything about its use and application, you always learn something new if you just watch and listen. God gave us 2 ears and 1 mouth for a reason. Thanks again - good video. A few others with it were well worth the watch as well. Mike - yeah, I'm moving forward with it.
