Topic: Oil for '36 generator?

What oil should I be using in the generator on our 1936 V8? Engine is a '36 LB.

How many drops?

And what about the distributor? (stock 40B from Bubba)

A couple of drops of 20 or 30W motor oil every 500-1,000 miles will keep the rear bushing happy. Same for the distributor.

I keep a small can of "three in one" oil in my tool box and it works fine. You don't want to over oil the generator. About once or twice a year should suffice.

Thanks for the responses, gentlemen. The job is done.

Have you read the lubrication chart in the Instruction Book (owner's manual) that came with your car? The one for my '32 says engine oil but doesn't specify the amount (probably just fill to top). Everyone should have one. Reproductions are available in case yours was lost.
