I'm losing water out of my new radiator and rebuilt motor. It's not going into the oil. It does have a little puddle when I stop and park, but not very big. I have to put almost a 1/2 gallon of water after it sits awhile. It does not over heat at all. Mystery. It runs very well.

Is it a fresh rebuild? Have you tried a cooling system sealant such as this Bar's Leaks 1194 Grey Radiator Stop Leak or K-Seal? https://www.kseal.com/products/k-seal

Fill the radiator just above the top of the cores. Filling it too full will just cause the excess to puke out the overflow when it heats up and expands.

Remove the water pump belt and check the coolant for foam or bubbles after running the engine at 1,000 RPM for about 5 minutes, but before it overheats. Foam means that the head gasket is leaking. If you have foam, re-torque the heads when the engine is warm and add a stop leak. If you do not have foam, replace the belt and repeat the test. If you have foam now, order Skip's pressure relief valve and install it on the overflow. This will keep about 3 lb pressure in the system and help control the foam. Sierra antifreeze foams less than Prestone type antifreeze. Tom
