It has been a while since I logged in on this forum since my 1950 Ford was restored and usable. I have a strange item to address; i.e., The potential value of vintage oil cans; Are there really individuals who collect antique Oil Cans? I ask because I have an ancient 5-gallon oil can that was "old" back in the 1950's. It is a "CRUISER" 100% PURE PENNSYLVANIA MOTOR OIL. I thought I would ask this Ford Forum before I embark on learning to use "ebay" If there is any interest, I can try to send picture and discuss value to a would-be collector/buyer.

That can is in very nice condition. Check e-Bay as there is a category for oil can collectors. Also there are swap meets called Gas Bashes where oil cans are bought, sold and traded. Keep an eye on e-Bay to get an idea of the value of your can. Certain cans can be worth a lot of money depending on the brand, condition , and the graphics on the can.

To "trjfords8" Thanks for your comments. I have checked ebay but there are no 5-gallon CRUISER cans like mine to estimate a value. Ultimately, the "value" can only be determined by a connection between a source of an item and an interested party "collector." However, I appreciate you input. I have recently become aware of ebay as a potential venue for connecting "collector's" with a source; however, I thought V-8 club members as an initial source to connect with interested collectors. I'm hoping to price it at $50.00 (plus/minus) depending my research. So, now my new adventure begins; i.e., listing on ebay site for my esoterica. After all life is a collection of new adventures.

$50 may not be enough. Check Google as I believe there may be some Petroliana collector clubs or associations.

There is a Pontiac car museum in Pontiac Illinois that has a huge oil can collection. You can look them up and see if they are interested.

One not as nice as yours sold in 2016 on E-Bay for $85. Here is a web site where oil can collectors hang out http://www.oldgas.com/ebaystatus.html Tom

Tom: Thanks for the info, the "Old Gas.com" site sounds promising since they have listing for collectors here in Ohio.
