What is a good, practical compact jack for a '46? I have a restored '46 jack set that is for show only, so what's a good one to carry for potential flats?

I carry a scissor jack you can get at Walmart for about $20. Or go to your local Pick-N-Pull and you can find all kinds of jacks for about $5. Carry a short piece of 4X4 to put under the jack to lift the rear end. Many of these scissor jacks don't go high enough to reach the axle housing.

trjford8 is right --- try and find a Ford Windstar and get its jack. Very compact and lifts very high. Fits under frame and will raise the vehicle high enough to get a wheel off a 1949 Ford with its rear wheel inside the rear fender. This message was edited by nelsb01 on 7-29-17 @ 2:53 PM
