Does anybody know of a source for a NOS or good rebuilt unit for a 53? Is this the same unit as the 52 or 54? Thanks!

We have ours done by Bob's Speedometer in Michigan. You send them the speedometer and they will check it an quote the repair cost. They also have replacements in stock. They do clocks, tachs, gauges, gas sending units, and cruise controls. They also buy those items if you have spares. 1-800-592-9673

Baxter Ford does not repair speedometers any longer. Chris @Shoebox Central repaired my l949 Ford speedo. In and out 5 days! Good prices.

Some want about $250 to repair if they can find parts. I found a whole '52 instrument cluster on ebay last week with a working speedo. In fact all the instruments worked, all for $60. My '53 speedo shaft broke coming back from Chantilly. Be sure and oil the speedo. The '53 oil hole is on top of the cable threads and can't see with cable scr*w*d in. Popped the "new" one in and works good. Don

PS Baxter told me last week that he is only doing transmissions. No instruments.

I plan to have my 51 speedometer rebuilt, but also want to make sure cable/housing are in good shape and lubed. The “hole on top of the cable threads”. Is that on the speedometer or the cable? Also, what type of lube would you recommend?
