Topic: Backing plate nuts

rdove    -- 06-28-2017 @ 7:04 PM
I’m restoring a 1948 2-door sedan and I hope someone can help me locate some parts. I know they are small parts but I’m trying to make it as correct as possible.

I need 2 front backing plate nuts, 3 rear backing plate nuts, 4 screws that attach the brake line clips to the front cross-member and the locks and washers that hold the brake and clutch pedals on the shaft. Must be like the originals.
If you have any of these or know where I might be about to locate them, please contact me. rdove@triad.rr.com

Roy Nacewicz can supply all of these at a reasonable cost. He is in my opinion, the ONLY source when you expect the "right stuff". Reasonable prices and great service ...

Dovetailing and agreeing with kubes40 - Roy Nacewicz:

Invest the time to pursue ALL you need in the appropriate on-line catalog before you call him. 'Very strongly preferred' $25 minimum order size so have that in mind before you call to place your order.

Thanks everyone! I ordered the backing plate nuts from Roy and they are shorter than the originals. Sent them back but haven't received credit for them yet.

First I've ever heard of Roy supplying an incorrect part! Wow! How confident are you that your 'originals' are 'originals' and that those Roy supplied are not actually/technically correct?

Very confident. The car has been parked since 1968 and it is very original.

kubes40    -- 06-29-2017 @ 6:29 PM
Did you know that the nuts on the backing plates were NOT all the same?
Just because your car sat since '68 means little. The car was already 20+ years old, worth nothing in '68 and as such much could have and probably was done to it.
The nuts Roy supplies for the backing plates are correct.

I know that these fronts and rears are different. Roy sells quality and correct hardware.
