Topic: 1947 Coupe trunk won't open

  Hey All,
I restored my 1947 sedan coupe a few years ago and used a repop trunk handle and lock. I went to open it today and it won't turn to unlatch the trunk. I think something may have come loose. I tried locking and unlocking the lock a few times, but I couldn't tell if it was doing anything either. How can I get into my trunk to fix it? (Denver area)
Thanks,
Randy

Take the rear seat out and you can get into the trunk.

I was hoping I wouldn't have to destroy the trunk's interior panel. I'll take out the back seat to see if there's a way to remove the panel without ruining it.

Okay, it's fixed now. I took out the back seat and was able to remove the trunk panel without damaging it. I emptied the trunk except the spare wheel and was able to crawl in to see what's up. There was a brass pin loose and things seemed sloppy, so I was able to remove the large nut that holds the handle on (that was a tough job!) Once it was out, I could then turn the square hole to pop the trunk from the inside. As I examined the part, I noticed that things were a little bent, so I was able to straighten and reassemble the handle. It's back together now, but I'm going to look for an OEM handle, since this thing is of inferior quality. I'm attaching some pics because I know everyone always wants to see the job.
