Topic: 1947 Horn Assembly at Steering Wheel

Bill E Bob    -- 06-08-2017 @ 6:23 AM
Have searched several sites/books to no avail. Would like pics or instructions as to how the horn switch is set up at the steering wheel.
I had to purchase wire/spring/gasket as steering wheel and horn ring were all I had to work with. There is a screw on the ring, but can't imagine it's for the wire only as abrasion from turning of wheel would soon result in constant horn sounding. (or worse)
Any assistance would be appreciated

Here is a link to an earlier discussion on this with several pictures and information specific to your needs. Disregard the fact this link is for a '47 Mercury as basically the '46 and '47 Mercs were Fords throughout with only the trim packages being the differences of significance. See if this addresses your needs and circle back here with any further questions you may have:

Thanks Large gentlemen. As I see it, the wire screws directly to the horn ring with contact made when you push the ring down. Evidently rotation of the wire with the steering wheel isn't a problem?
