Topic: Oil pressure sending unit adjustment

The sending unit on my 34 has two threaded parts. Are there adjustments with this? One part is threaded into the other and the second part is also threaded. I hope I don't sound crazy. I can't find any information on this. I need advice.

The 34 from the factory just had an ammeter, speedometer and a fuel gauge, no oil pressure. There are accessory Dual-chex fuel and oil pressure gauges. This gauge does not measure oil pressure level it just senses low pressure and switches a semaphore from On to Off. The same gauge has an ammeter inside the case. The original sending units for this gauge are VERY hard to find! A photo of your sending unit and the gauge would be good but it does not sound like the original Dual chex sending unit.

The 2 fittings are probably adaptors to achieve the correct thread. There are no adjustments to oil pressure gages. As previous poster said "oil chex" gagues are up in the clouds as far as price if you can find one. BTW You sent me an email what is that about. ken ct. IGADORE@SBCGLOBAL. NET ????

It is definitely a dual-chex. The gauge only has off or on. After a month of owning the car the gauge started to change from off to on and then mostly off. I'm hoping it is not low pressure only a dirty connection or sending unit.
During cleaning of the sending unit the connection at top of the sending unit has the two threaded pieces. in additions to the the threads that attach the unit to the block. The top piece has the wire attachment and that piece also has a collar sleeve that is threaded and adjustable. Is there an adjustment on the top of the sending unit or an amount I should tighten the collar down too? I will post a picture later this evening.

A while back someone reproduced the Dual-Chex. It is possible you have a reproduction?? I do not know the difference, in appearance, between the original style and the reproductions. Although it would appear the sending unit may have adjustment I doubt it! If it were adjustable there would be locations for adjustment tools (slots or hex) Maybe someone who knows can chime in or contact Dave Rehor to see if he is aware. I would not make any adjustments to the sending unit or the gauge (2 on the back) without knowing the procedure for adjustment and putting a mechanical gauge on the engine (remove the plug under the sending unit). To see if both a mechanical gauge and the Dual-Chex agree on the engine oil pressure. Ford engines typically have very low oil pressure at hot idle (10# or less)

If anyone has an original, would you share a photo with the club.
