Any new ideas re cyl head removal on 24 stud flathead v-8? I have been soaking with atf/acetone mix for months. No luck. Tried heating the head. No luck. Heated the studs. No luck. Using wedges and dead blow, some movement. Scary! On removal of studs, some coming out on the 40, 41 blocks, and breaking off on the 46 block. Help here? Den

If aluminum heads are stuck to the block, about the only way to get them off is with a hole saw that just fits over the stud. If you have the engine out of the vehicle, you will save time and money by taking it to a good machine shop. When we get a block that someone has tried unsuccessfully to remove heads or studs, there is usually damage to the block or heads, or both.
