Topic: High performance water pumps

I was going to install high performance water pumps on my 35 Fordor, but when I contacted CG Ford, the person I spoke with told me that I should not use high performance pumps because he heard that these pumps will make the radiator overflow. Has anyone had experience with this?

If by 'high petformance' you are referencing the 'high flow' pumps with the helical-shaped impellers I can tell you I've used both rebuilt stock water pumps and these 'new designs'. For stock configurations and complete cooling systems in factory-optimum operating condition I personally could see no difference in performance and accordingly little-to-no value in the investment.

To answer your question they did not cause any overflow to occur and I strongly suspect that is simply feedback from customers who over-filled their systems during coolant replacement.

I agree with Steve, I have used both stock and modified (hi-flow) pumps and have never experience any advantage to the modified pumps.
I would suggest you send your pumps to George Haney and have him rebuild them. The man does good work and in my opinion offers a much better product than any of the new pumps made overseas.
