Are there any 38 pickup experts out there. My numbers all match but the engine has water pumps mounted on front of head. Did ford do that on early 38s or do I have an earlier engine. 21 stud.

Do you have 2 big plates on the block just under the front of the heads. If so could be a 37 to early 38 block with 34 to 36 heads. That one has a broken mount to it anyway. Make a good boat anchor. ken ct.

I do not recall any plates. I know that he one I have is NG. Trying to find a replacement but not having much luck. Can you give me any leads on replacement head?

That appears to be an aluminum head. I would replace both heads with the cast iron heads. Run a want ad on here and Fordbarn for two cast iron '36 heads. They are out there and since your motor may be a 36 rather than a 38 you don't need to worry about originality.
