Does anybody know how wide the widest part of the 40 wagon body is? I need to know before I get a car trailer. The car is 3,000 miles away. I know woody bodies are wider.

The body is not an issue for a trailer as it is well within the fenders. The width of the car at the bumper tips would be the most important dimension I would think. Regardless, any '40 Ford passenger car will fit in nearly any car trailer with ease.

According to the V8 Album the widest point on a 40 wagon is 57.2 inches. But that's not the widest point on the car. That would be over the front or rear fenders or as Kubes says over the ends of the bumpers.
