Topic: 37 windshield frame question

  Hello,
My 37 Sedan Delivery windshield frame is comprised of a left hand and right hand side (picture is attached). All the Ford books I have indicate it is comprised of an upper piece (78-701220-A) and lower piece (78-701230-A).
I believe mine to be the original windshield frame, but could be wrong. It does fit the window opening perfectly. What am I missing?
Thanks for help solving this mystery.
Gregg

37's did have a 2 piece w/s. I assume sedan del had the same. It was a 37 type cab not like the 36 which was a flat 1 piece w/s. ken ct.

I've never seen a 37 windshield frame with those "T" brackets on the inside of the frame. looks to me like a repo frame or something made up by a prior owner.

Attached is a front side pic, it is painted body color per "Standard" model.
I agree the center T pieces are incorrect. Close up it looks like they are home made pieces. I don't know what the correct center section is supposed to look like. Any pics would help. I bought this car back in the 60's, maybe there were repro frames back then? It is pretty weird since the frame itself looks to be well made and perfect fit.
Thanks for the responses.

The windshield frame on my '37 Fordor Sedan is different in that it looks like it goes together top to bottom. There are two chrome splice covers (terminology) on the center of each left & right vertical end frame.

Pictures attached Below

I have an original '37 windshield frame, it came out of a '37 that I restored in the mid 1960's. It is chrome on the outside, painted on the inner side. The center bar is flat on the outside to match the frame, the inside of the division bar is half-round. There is a very small T clip, approx 3/4" long at the top which is spot welded to the face of the upper frame, attaches to the division bar with a very small screw. The frame still has glass in it.
I can take some pix of the frame, however, I'll have to take it down from the wall it's attached to.
I would surmise that someone repaired the frame many years ago, the T bars are not very well made.

That does not appear to be an original equipment Ford Windshield Frame.

I have one with glass from a Standard (non chrome frame).

You can have it for free if you can pick it up here in Illinois.

  Thanks.
I am convinced now that mine is not an original 37 frame. Leaves me to wonder if it is from a 39 or later car. I don't know if the windshield opening remained the same after 37. It probably was at least for 38.
Anyway, am headed to the Big3 swap meet today and will keep an eye out for these frames.

Wow, that is a hard offer to pass up, thank you. I am in Arizona, quite a jaunt to Illinois. For now, I will have to pass up your generous offer.

I took a quick pix of the center division bar connection to the outer frame, as you can note from the pix the bar is half round on the inside, the attachment clip is a small T formed to fit the lazy V of the upper frame, attachment is via a spot weld to the head piece and a small screw to the division bar.
The windshield frame shown in the original postings to this topic is not a stock Ford item..
