Topic: 34 Cabriolet tack strip

My 34 Cabriolet has a beat-up tack strip that attaches the convertible top to the body. It is a steel strip that is attached to the body, and it has edges that can be bent over to hold the tacking material, which is traditionally made from a dense water repellent paper. Is this the right type of strip, and does anyone know where I can get a new metal strip to replace the old badly worn one?

To my knowledge no one makes the new meat strip. If yours is not rusted out I would leave it alone. You can get new vinyl tack strip material from Bob Drake or from LeBaron-Bonney. You can pop rivet the new material to the old strip. Once the top and upholstery are installed in the car you will not see the pop rivets.

Thanks. Sounds like good advice. I will check into doing just that. Jerry.
