New guy on the block. I have two A's and am considering putting a V-8 in the coupe. Figured this would be a good place to start. Any and all comments welcome.

Welcome! Lots of us "experts" here to help when we can. As to the "A's". I had two. One stock, and the other with an early V8. Both were fun cars. The stock type was just an around town and "parade" car. Above 30 mph it was noisy and often hard to control, mostly due to the ineffective lever shocks, and the braking was so-so. The other car, with the V8, was a big improvement in power and less interior noise, but from the first day, the stock brakes were inadequate. Adding hydraulic brakes and 600x16 wheels and tires, plus tube shocks, made a big difference. That said, both cars were later sold. The stock one went first to a buyer who wanted the original "A". The other finally went to an owner who planned an all out rod. There was less time and money spent on the original car, and it brought more than the other when sold. For that reason, I would be careful about converting the A because there is more to the project
than just dropping in a later engine if it is to safe to drive.

You would probably have better luck on HAMB, http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/ I don't remember seeing you over there. This site is mostly stock 1932-53 Ford cars and other Ford motor company products.
