Topic: 36 Ford spare tire

My locksmith could not open the spare tire cover lock so I drilled it out. The tire I found is a wide white side wall with Ford in script, Universal Tire Co., Elizabethtown, Pa. Could someone tell me how old this could be and what did the original tire look like.
The car is a 1936 Model 68 Fordo sedan deluxe touring.
I also need a new spare tire lock and rear quarter panel flip out window seals.

Universal Tire Company (www.universaltire.com) has been around since 1968. They began the business to make reproduction tires for antique automobiles. Your tire is 1968 or newer. I believe the Ford script whitewall tires made by Ford began in December of 1937 and continued into 1940. For your rear quarter window seals you need to check with vendors such as Drake or Carpenter. If they cannot supply them then check with Steele Rubber Products or Metro Moulded Products . Both can be located with a Google search.

Thank you for such a quick reply. I got Metro making a set of seals.
