  has anyone removed side cover from tranny while it"s in the car.looking to change lever seals on shift lever.Trannys in 48 2dr

  Yes. You will want to drain the transmission oil first. Put the transmission in neutral before removing the shifter rods from the levers on the side of the transmission. Make note of the shifter forks orientations and locations in the synchronizer and sliding gear as you remove the side cover from the tranmission case.
The oil seals on the shifter shafts are quite difficult to access, remove, and install - you might want to take the shifter housing assembly to a machine shop to have the old seals removed and the new ones installed.
When you reinstall the shifter housing to the transmission, be sure the shifter forks are located correctly and that you use a new gasket.
