Am interested in connecting modern/traditional antenna to 1936 Ford Philco radio. Would appreciate any info, diagrams, suggestions regarding possibilities. Thanks.

The original connector on the Ford Phillco radios is a "push and twist" male type of a connector, the modern antenna connector is a male bayonet pin that goes into the female end. In order to connect these two connectors together there use to be an adapter that would connect to the Ford Philco and then accept the modern bayonet connector on the other side. You have to be careful trying to "Mickey Mouse" the connection together because the fabric covered cable that cones out of the radio box has a braided metal shield, as does the antenna cable. This shielding cable has to be soldered to the connectors. If you have your radio serviced by a good radio tech that knows what he is doing, he can remove the vintage plug end from the radio box, adding a modern female bayonet connector. i bought an antenna extension cable and cut off the male end. I removed the original antenna wire from the radio, ran the new cable thru the hole and soldered it in just like the original antenna cable, with the center wire connected to the antenna lead and the shield to the radio case. if you can't find a cable locally, they're are on amazon https://www.amazon.com/uxcell-Vehicle-Antenna-Adaptor-Extension/dp/B00574TAXC/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1481668351&sr=8-2&keywords=car+radio+extension+cable or ebay.
